It IS easy being green...

...and here are just a few web-based resources to help you learn more about green chemistry and engineering, and sustainability:

American Chemical Society (ACS) Green Chemistry Institute
The mission of the ACS Green Chemistry Institute (ACS GCI) is to enable and catalyze the implementation of green chemistry and green engineering into all aspects of the global chemical enterprise. Established in 1997, the Green Chemistry Institute became part of ACS in 2001. The organization has international chapters, and participates in green chemistry education via public events, published research materials, and their website.

California Green Chemistry Initiative
Learn more about what one state is doing to educate the public and initiate policy change at the California Dept. of Toxic Substances Control Green Chemistry Initiative website. This site also contains links to other associations and research centers nationwide, university programs, and other state programs related to green chemistry, sustainability, and waste reduction.

Resilience Alliance
The Resilience Alliance (RA) is a research organization comprised of scientists and practitioners from many disciplines who collaborate to explore the dynamics of social-ecological systems. RA topics of interest include resilience, adaptability, transformability, and sustainable development policy and practice. Member organizations include the Stockholm Environmental Institute, Arizona State University, and Indiana University.

International Energy Agency

The International Energy Agency (IEA) is an intergovernmental organization which acts as energy policy advisor to 28 member countries in their effort to ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy for their citizens. Founded during the oil crisis of 1973-74, the IEA’s initial role was to co-ordinate measures in times of oil supply emergencies. As energy markets have changed, its mandate has broadened to incorporate the “Three E’s” of balanced energy policy making: energy security, economic development and environmental protection. The site includes a section on sustainable development, in addition to other energy-related topics.

LEED.net - Promoting LEED Certification and Green Building
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a third-party certification program. It is a nationally accepted organization for design, operation and construction of high performance green buildings. This ensures the buildings are environmentally compatible, provide a healthy work environment and are profitable.

fuelcells.org

Fuel Cells 2000's mission is to promote the commercialization of fuel cells and hydrogen by supplying accurate, unbiased information, developing and disseminating summary materials accessible to a general audience, and providing a portal for researchers, developers, suppliers, government officials, opinion leaders and others interested in the sector. Most information on the site is provided free of charge. The Fuel Cells 2000 site includes a Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Policy and Demonstration Database, which catalogs initiatives, policy and partnerships in the fuel cell and hydrogen arena. Fuel Cells 2000 is an activity of the Breakthrough Technologies Institute (BTI), a non-profit [501(c)(3)] independent, educational organization that identifies and promotes environmental and energy technologies that can improve the human condition.
