Springer's trial error

A domain error led Spring to mistakenly offer their E-book trial to GRC employees. We are sorry to say that the earlier post indicating a Springer E-book trial through the end of April is not accurate. Springer has apologized for their error and has corrected the problem.
If you are interested in an E-book trial from Springer or another publisher, please contact the library supervisor, Don Reams, at 3-5763.

Springer announces a new beta version of SpringerLink

Springer has recently announced that the beta version of the new SpringerLink platform is now available. Users can either search the current version of SpringerLink:

or can click on the SpringerLink beta image, found at the left of most SpringerLink pages, to try the new SpringerLink platform.

Users of the new platform can set up alerts; browse by collection, content type, or title; or can search by keyword or publication information such as author, journal volume, and more, all from the SpringerLink home page. As this is a beta version, features may be added or changed over time. Try both and compare features of the beta and the current version of SpringerLink while both are still available!

Access hard-to-find raw scientific data with SpringerImages

SpringerImages is a growing collection of scientific images that spans the scientific, technical and medical fields. Specific topics include chemistry, materials science, physics, and more. This continually updated collection – currently over 1.5 million images – gathers photos, graphs, histograms, figures, and tables, and is available via a searchable online database.

The SpringerImages interface enables users to search faster, more broadly and more accurately, through captions, keywords, context and more, even jumping from the image to the source article and related images from other articles. Users can create personalized image “sets,” and can easily export images for use in their own presentations or lectures.

Anyone can create an account and search the free and Open Access images indexed by SpringerImages. If you have any questions, please contact Jaime Scibelli at 3-5778.
