SciTopics - Research info from the experts

SciTopics is a free expert-generated knowledge-sharing service for the scientific community. Topics covered include chemical engineering, energy, materials science, physics, and more. Invited authors can publish a concise overview of their particular area of research or invite co-authors to jointly create and update the content of the SciTopics page.Researchers can search or browse SciTopics to stay up-to-date in their field and/or get a quick overview of a topic outside their area of expertise without having to search multiple websites.

Researchers can also see further suggested reading/references, related keywords and topics, and leave feedback or questions for the article author(s).

SciTopics is an Elsevier product; it also incorporates Scirus (a free science-specific search engine) and limited previews of Scopus (a subscription-based database), both Elsevier products. Registration at SciTopics is free; check it out today!

Library product trial - try Scopus today!

Scopus, an abstract and citation database, is available via a three-month product trial provided by the NASA Digital Library (NDL). Scopus covers:

    • Extensive conference coverage (3.6 million conference papers)
Scopus also covers 433 million quality web sources, including 23 million patents. Web sources are searched via Scirus, and include author homepages, university sites and resources such as the preprint servers CogPrints and ArXiv.org, and OAI compliant resources. Topics covered include the physical sciences, as well as life and health sciences, and social sciences.
To access the product during the trial, visit http://www.scopus.com/home.url (NASA access only). For additional information, or help with any issues accessing Scopus during the trial period, please contact the Glenn Science & Engineering Library Science Librarian at 3-5778.

Scirus Scientific Search Engine

Scirus, a science-specific search engine, searches over 450 million science-specific Web pages, enabling you to quickly pinpoint scientific, scholarly, technical, and medical data that other search engines may miss. Scirus filters out non-scientific information and sites; finds peer-reviewed and pre-print items, as well as conferences, patent information, and university/company/scientist websites; and allows you to refine, customize, or save your search results, or share them via email. Journals and organizations covered by Scirus include NASA, the American Physical Society (APS), Institute of Physics (IOP), LexisNexis, PubMed, and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM).
