Check out the new IEEE Xplore

Check out the new IEEE Xplore! Updates include a new search engine, faceted results, expanded browse options, and improved abstract preview pages.

If you were previously receiving table of content alerts for IEEE Xplore content, you will need to reset those in the new IEEE Xplore. Login in with your existing personal account information, go to "My Settings", then "Preferences", and add your email address to your personal preferences. Then, click "Manage Alerts" on the home page to be taken to the Table of Contents Alerts page. Select the check box next to each title for which you want to receive updates by e-mail, and then click "Update".

You can also set alerts for saved searches. Perform a search and when you are satisfied with your criteria, click "Save this Search" button.

IEEE Xplore on your Mobile Phone

A new feature from IEEE!
IEEE Xplore Mobile provides free search of all IEEE Xplore documents directly on your mobile device. You can view up to 10 article abstracts per search. To view full-text articles, send the article links to your e-mail address. IEEE Xplore Mobile Beta is viewable on all web-enabled mobile devices. It has been optimized for newer mobile devices (i.e. Apple iPhone, Blackberry Storm). When using older mobile devices (i.e. Blackberry 8360, Blackberry Curve), you may be able to choose “Internet Browser” as your default browser in your device’s options for optimal viewing.

New Content in IEEE Xplore

IEEE recently announced a partnership with the American Institute of Physics (AIP) and the AVS that brings AIP/AVS content to IEEE Xplore. NASA Glenn IEEE Xplore users will soon be able to browse and search five highly-cited applied physics journals within IEEE Xplore:
  • Applied Physics Letters (AIP)
  • Journal of Applied Physics (AIP)
  • Review of Scientific Instruments (AIP)
  • JVST A: Vacuum, Surfaces and Films (AVS)
  • JVST B: Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures (AVS)
Full-text of all five journals, dating back to 1930, will be available with the upcoming release of the latest version of IEEE Xplore. Watch the Glenn Science & Engineering Library website for announcement of the availability of these journals.

Other enhancements include modifications to the PDF viewing banner which lets users know that access is being provided by their organization, giving it a smaller size and incorporating controls to allow users to close the banner. Also, IEEE Xplore Mobile (Beta) is now available. Users can now quickly access IEEE Xplore digital library articles from any web-enabled phone by simply visiting http://m.ieeexplore.ieee.org on your phone’s browser. IEEE Xplore Mobile (Beta) will allow you to:
  • Search IEEE Xplore on the g0
  • Retrieve the top 10 search results for your query along with full article abstracts
  • E-mail the individual results to yourself or your users
(Full-text is only available to NASA Glenn users at a NASA Glenn authenticated IP address.)

Please contact the Glenn Science & Engineering Library at 3-5762 for additional information or assistance.

Full-text PDF Banner
:
Each PDF will have a web banner at the top which will allow you to link back to either IEEE Xplore or to http://www.ieee.org/portal/site

Integration of MeSH terms
: MeSH terms (indexing terms produced by the National Library of Medicine) will make finding biomedical information easier to find within IEEE Xplore.

IEEE Xplore will remain fully operational during this upgrade.
